    you may also consider different Silicone shore types. in general, a softer silicone has less crosslinks - meaning it sticks less to a harder silicone base. on the other hand, a hard silicone has more crosslinks and sticks better to a softer silicone base. Most release agents contain a thick silicone oil dissolved in alcohol - the solvent penetrates your master and may actually cause sticking! (eg. if you used more than a thin spray mist to reach undercuts). The thick silicone oil may melt due to heat and completely loose its releasing properties (eg if you are impatient or use heat to postcure)

      @@TheZahnputz thank you for the comment.. very interesting. The shore hardness I chose for my molds is ridgid enough to keep its shape while pouring into, while being soft enough to demold.. it’s right where I want it. So changing shore hardness isn’t in the cards.. but a good lesson, so Thank you 🙏

    @sumosprojects 5 днів тому

    Well hey Jake, I’m wondering why your UA-cam channel isn’t bigger 🧐 I see so many idiots showing crap on the hobby & making an large income from it, seems unfair don’t you think?

    • @JakeThompson
      @JakeThompson 5 днів тому

      @@sumosprojects that’s a complex question Sumo.. I think a big reason is that I’ve had different topics over the years. Woodworking, tool reviews, craft show topics, CNC, Resin casting, woodturning, stabilizing wood, and mold making. It’s hard to grow an audience with multiple topics. Someone who subscribed when I was doing CNC videos more than likely won’t watch a resin casting video. It’s all about perspective, to some 46k is a small channel. I’m grateful to have the audience I have. When we have 70 people show up to Saturday Morning Cartoons, we know every single one of them and we are happy to have every one of them in our life. As far as Money goes- and I notice you comment about money a lot. If someone starts a UA-cam channel strictly to make money, they will be disappointed in the results. It is difficult to say the least.. As far as what kind of money other creators are making…. It’s none of my business what is in someone else’s pocket… We have a new favorite saying on this channel.. it just basically means, don’t worry about what other people are doing, just worry about ourselves. Keep Working. The Eagle doesn’t pay attention to what the pigeons are doing.

    • @sumosprojects
      @sumosprojects 3 дні тому

      @@JakeThompson Fair enough Jake & a very well presented response to the question 👏, I do agree with all of the points you’ve put across & the super highway of UA-cam is sometimes relentless or reluctant to a creators vision of how it shall be. Good on you for being persistent & sticking to your guns.

    Wow. Big one has 28% more CFM??? That is a HUGE difference. Also it would been great to have precise measure of dust separation like I described in previous comment in other video... And now the question is. Did you compare these two with new low pro??? Thanks, Tomas

    • @JakeThompson
      @JakeThompson 5 днів тому

      Comparing these with the Low Pro isn’t a fair comparison.. the traditional cyclones flow lots more air… I would like to see you do a comparison and document the weight of all the dust before and after.. it’s a brilliant idea and I would absolutely love to go to your channel and watch that as soon as you get the video ready.. let me know when it’s ready :)

      @HarmonieZvuku-harfy-kalimby 5 днів тому

      @@JakeThompsonlow pro has much less CFM than 2.5? Thats quite enough awhat I need to know - its a long time when I was in dust searching so I discovered that there is some low profile just from your channel... And yesterday I tried to search about it and I get quite nothing! And it is so important to compare this low profile with normal one. I have a really small shop. I (was) excited about small one - it would greatly fit for me. But not a chance for cost of much lower effeciency. And there is nothing on theirs website about this...

    • @HarmonieZvuku-harfy-kalimby
      @HarmonieZvuku-harfy-kalimby 5 днів тому

      @@JakeThompsonand btw Ive just saw CFM comparison these two (old and 2.5) with low price chinese one and you know what? Chinese was the same as 2.5!! That means old DD is reaaaaaly bad cyclone... But still I didnt see what really interested me - comparison with Clear vue - cyclone designed by "legendary" Bill Pentz... Its strange that there is so many videos about cyclone and nobody made comparison of two most famous... And about my video. Well as you can see I also was really interested in dust collectiing hobby =D I have quite a lot information about that and I actually was thinking about making these videos - but firstly I have no viewers and secondly I do videos only about musical instruments what I make - no shop videos.

    Hi and thank you for comparison! But if you really want to test the filtration its not enough to suck such a small amount of dust and then just look by eyes. What really matter is how they can filter unvisible dust. Therefore you have to have two same quantities of dust what you precisely weight before and after. And it is important NOT to use same dust again - because it would already have finest particle catched in vacuum filters... But thank you anyway! I didnt know that there is this new low profile oneida cyclone.. It looks like its time to upgrade my workshop =) Tomáš

    From Australia, I bought the original many years ago (at great expense because nobody distributes these in AU except Amazon) I made a custom timber box for it on wheels, insert a big heavy duty garbage bag, some weatherstrip seals the lid and lock the top on with toggle clamps, sealed the Duststopper to the lid with Sika 11FC, been running it for years without any issues, keeps my shop vac perfectly clean (I use a bag in the shop vac) and haven't replaced the bag in it after 4 years of use because basically nothing gets past the Duststopper, very happy with it, I can see how the new latches make it easier to use if using with a bucket and the seal helps efficiency, after seeing this I have no need to upgrade my one as it just works, thanks for the comparison.
